WEN & Huetiful Hair Steamer on Sisterlocks

I ordered the WEN Hair Care System about a week ago because I'd heard great things about how it does not fade hair color, it gently cleanses the hair, and it hydrates the hair really well. Lately, my Sisterlocks have been pretty dry, so I decided I'd give it a try. I received the entire WEN Hair Care System, including the Cleansing Conditioner, Re-Moist Intensive Hair Treatment, Texture Balm, and Styling Cremé in the Sweet Almond Mint scent.

To begin the process, I first bundled my Sisterlocks which naturally put my hair into sections like the WEN system instructions.

I first product I tried was the Cleansing Conditioner, which is what you use for Shampoo / Conditioner, so it is essentially like doing a Co-Wash. The Cleansing Conditioner does not contain any SLS or "sudsing" ingredients so it not expected to lather.

The Cleansing Conditioner itself is thick and creamy and in total I used about 10 pumps of it each Co-Wash to saturate my Sisterlocks; and I did two co-washes.  When I first applied it to my scalp and massaged it in, I felt a slight tingle, I'm assuming from the Mint, which felt really nice. After, I let it sit for about 2 minutes, I rinsed out the Cleansing Conditioner with lukewarm water and it rinsed out really well.

The other product I tried was the Re-Moist Intensive Hair Treatment, which is like a deep conditioner. The instructions indicated that the longer if was left on the more effective it was, so I decided to allow the treatment to penetrate deeply by using it under the Huetiful Hair Steamer. I applied a generous amount of the Re-Moist Intensive Hair Treatment to each section, from root to tip. The Re-Moist Intensive Hair Treatment is pretty thick as well, but a little bit actually went a long way.

I prepared the Huetiful Hair Steamer with filtered water and a special oil blend that I created. I also had to pin up my Sisterlocks with three hair clips to the majority of my hair would be under the Hair Steamer.

I sat under the hair steamer for about 15 minutes and the Re-Moist Intensive Hair Treatment x my therapeutic blend of essential oils definitely penetrated my hair and scalp.

After I rinsed out the Re-Moist Intensive Hair Treatment, my hair felt full, hydrated, and a lot softer than it's felt in a while. Overall, I really enjoyed the WEN Hair System and using the Huetiful Hair Steamer! I am going to continue using WEN over the next 30 days, and since I'm getting a color touch-up this week, I will get to see how much WEN actually prevents hair color from fading.

Have you tried the WEN Hair System on your natural hair or the Huetiful Hair System revitalize to your hair?

  3. Wow, I always wanted to see how Wen products worked on locs but stayed away from it because it was creamy. Did you find that it left any build up in your locs due to the creamy texture?

  4. I am almost 2 years natural and I am thinking of getting sisterlocks and I hear a lot of people say that you are not suppose to deep condition or add oils?? I suffer with dry natural hair all the time and I need to deep condition. Will that mess up my sisterlocks??

    1. That is correct you cannot use anything in your Sisterlocks other than the Sisterlocks "Getting Started" shampoo until your locs are settled (6 months - 1 year). I didn't follow this advice and as a result the integrity of my Sisterlocks suffered. If you're going to invest in the Sisterlocks system, you should follow the guidelines. Sisterlocks are a lifestyle, not a hair style. Your Consultant should be able to give you more information.
