ACV Rinse & Baking Soda Cleansing Tutorial

Happy New Year! I am trying to get 2012 off to a great start for the CurlyNuGrowth blog, so without further ado here is the first video tutorial of the year!

In my Last Retightening of the Year post [HERE] I talked about how great my hair has been feeling since doing the Apple Cider Vinegar [ACV]/Baking Soda Rinse and how my Sisterlock Consultant noticed a "drastic difference in my dandruff"; this rinse is what made that happen!

I decided to do this Apple Cider Vinegar [ACV]/Baking Soda Rinse on my Sisterlocks to help relieve my itchy scalp, deodorize my Sisterlocks, and to get rid of the some of the lint. After the rinse, my Sisterlocks have felt amazing and I definitely haven't been scratching as much. With that being said, I am definitely planning to add an ACV Rinse [without the Baking Soda] to my normal shampoo regimen because I LOVE how my Sisterlocks feel! If you're curious about the great benefits of ACV check out this post [HERE].

If you've tried this recipe or have another homemade way of cleansing your hair, do share!

  1. I use a version of this with ACV, Perioxide, and water. I suffer from seborric dermatitis and was desperate to end those flakes! I found this on the internet. I also have color treated hair and so far so problems. I shampoo then pour the mixture over my head. I leave it for 5 to 10 mins then rinse.

  2. Be careful with using Hydrogen Peroxide, it is really drying and especially with colored hair.

  3. So, how often will you do the ACV rinse with the baking soda? Do you still use a conditioner after shampooing?

  4. I would use the ACV & Baking Soda combo maybe every 3 month or so because the Baking Soda can be pretty harsh. I have started to use ACV in normal shampoo regimen every 2-3 weeks though. With my Sisterlocks, I don't use any conditioner, just the Sisterlocks "Getting Started" shampoo.
