First Shampoo & Full Retwist

Happy New Year! I am starting 2013 off with clean hair & scalp, yay!! I know I mentioned in the Vlog update last week that I wouldn't be shampooing my hair for a while, but I couldn't take it and not to mention my beau gave me a great suggestion. Check out the latest vlog update for a look into how my experience went shampooing my 3 -week old locs....

  1. Hi, It's great to see your videos here in blog form. For some reason the combination of blog entries and well organised videos make your journey quite exciting to follow.

In response to your week 2 and 3 updates I can relate. I too want to colour my locs and am currently waiting for them to mature, though I couldn't resist colouring a few to some success. I also have the soft back row that stubbornly refused to matt up. Using loc beads/cuffs on those really held them in place and finally the softest loc can now hold it's own during washing. I recall reaching 10 days before having to wash my hair which was a disaster but after that I used the stocking method one or twice which held though my hair wasn't very clean after. I tried using a hair net (larger holes) once my hair was longer (still shorter than yours now) and it worked better for cleansing. I have to agree palm rolling early is good, I only wish I discovered this sooner.

    Your hair is beautiful!

    Hope to hear from you,

    NL

    1. Thank you and I appreciate your feedback on blogging and vlogging! Using the stocking cap, I've been able to get my hair really clean but I have heard from a few people the same comment you're making about it not working so well, and my advice is to rinse rinse rinse and to do multiple shampoos with a cleansing or clarifying shampoo.

  2. I'm super happy you decided to wash your hair. Nothing replaces a good wash and cleanse...not witch hazel, Sea Breeze, or conditioner washes.

It's important to keep them clean because they're in the early stage. What you do at this point will effect your hair in the long run.

Your scalp will always tell you how to move. That itching and flaking was screaming for some water lol

    1. I completely agree, although witch hazel is one of my favorite remedies!
